PUPPY POWER!
I don’t particularly recall how it came up, but a week or so ago I had a fellow co-worker of mine tell me “I know who you remind me of…Scrappy Doo!” That encounter has lived rent free in my mind everyday because it’s so true- she was spot on actually. Everyday since then, I wake up and laugh because I can no longer unsee the uncanny resemblance between me and her keen observation. I never try and take myself too serious anymore because there’s no true threat like how it was back at home. To be seen, where I was from, meant that you could possibly become a “vic” aka victim and oftentimes it led to unwarranted battles. I vaguely remembered Scrabby Doo, so I had to go back to do some digging. He was developed to save a declining Scooby Doo series and he actually did turn viewership around, but all wasn’t as peachy as it seemed. It seems as if he also became a villain, to some viewers, due to taking attention off the other focal characters such as Daffney, Fred, and Velma; excuse my spelling of their names if I got it wrong. Also, the producers were afraid that he was too spunky and thought that it might encourage bad behavior amongst children. The biggest take away from his character, for me, was his courage and his ability to run towards confrontation versus running away, and cowering in some corner. She pegged me right…she was spot on. I know I haven’t ever been a candidate for Ms. Congeniality, but my unwavering courage and innovative ideas have not only proven to be effective…they were also proven to be successful even after I’ve left any place…I’ve always added value or at least tried to do so in my own way. I say all of this to say, sometimes it takes for someone to remind you of who you are for you to see and overstand that there’s nothing to fear, but fear itself. Hopefully, if you are fortunate enough to have some Scrappy Doo in you, before fear goes to bed at night, it should shudder at the thought of YOU being under it’s bed. ❤️
